(Barrio de Conxo, Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain)

This project is located in the Conxo neighborhood of Santiago de Compostela. Conxo is a neighborhood located at the south of the cityof Santiago de Compostela, in the province of La Coruña, Galicia. The growth of the urban nucleus of Santiago de Compostela ended up absorbing a council that for almost a century was independent from the capital of Galicia. Conxo proudly preserves traditions, buildings and stories that make it worth a visit on its own.

At Do Monte Conxo Park there is a soccer field that was colonized by skaters who built their own obstacles to skate. In 2019 Santiago City Council moved the sheet metal ramps located in the Plaza de la Constitución and relocated them at Conxo DIY, consolidating this space as a sports area for skateboarding. Other groups also used this space to practice volleyball, which sometimes led to coexistence conflicts.

The skateboarding character of this place has been reinforced and consolidated with the construction of new concrete obstacles to replace the sheet metal ramps and DIY obstacles. Additionally, a volleyball court and a pumptrack have been designed to respond to other demands from different groups.
